Many people spend months applying to hundreds of jobs with no reply. The problem is rarely the number of applications; it's the lack of a plan. This 4-week plan makes your search organised and measurable.
Week 1: get your tools ready
- Set your target: one or two job titles only (e.g. Customer Service Representative, Receptionist).
- CV: an ATS-friendly English version and an Arabic version. See the ATS CV guide.
- LinkedIn: a professional photo, a clear headline and a summary. See the LinkedIn guide.
- A short cover letter you can adapt. See the cover letter guide.
- Accounts: create profiles on the main job sites and switch on alerts. See the best job sites in the UAE.
Week 2: apply smart, not in bulk
- 5 to 10 well-targeted applications a day beat 50 random ones.
- Adjust the summary and skills on your CV to match each ad's keywords.
- Apply early: within the first two or three days after the ad is posted.
- Log every application in a sheet: company, title, date, link, status.
Week 3: open new doors
- Follow your target companies on LinkedIn and engage with their posts.
- Reach out to people at target companies with a short, polite message asking about the work.
- Tell people you know the exact title you are looking for, not “any job”.
- Follow up on applications that are a week old with a short note if you have the recruiter's email.
Week 4: prepare for interviews and review your results
- Prepare answers to the common questions: tell me about yourself, strengths and weaknesses and expected salary.
- Set up your space for online interviews and test your camera and audio. See online interview tips.
- Review your sheet: how many applications did you send, and how many replies came back?

FAQ
How many jobs should I apply for each day?
5 to 10 well-targeted applications a day, with the CV adjusted to each ad, work better than dozens of random applications.
When should I follow up after applying?
After about a week, if you have the recruiter's email, with a short and polite message.
Why am I not getting replies despite applying a lot?
Usually because the CV isn't ATS-friendly or doesn't match the ad's keywords, or because you are applying for roles far from your profile.
