How to Build a LinkedIn Profile That Attracts Recruiters in the UAE

In the UAE, many recruiters search for candidates on LinkedIn before posting an ad or alongside it, and some open your profile after reading your CV to check it. A weak or incomplete profile can cost you opportunities you never knew existed.

1. A professional photo

A clear photo of your face with a plain background and work attire. You don't need a professional photographer; a good phone and natural light are enough.

2. The headline: the most important 220 characters on your profile

Your headline appears in search results next to your name. Don't settle for “Looking for a job”. Write your target title with your key skills:

Customer Service Representative | Bilingual (Arabic/English) | Complaint Handling | CRM | Dubai, UAE

3. Location

Set your city in the UAE (e.g. Dubai or Sharjah). Many recruiters filter searches by location.

4. The About section

3 to 5 lines about your background, your core skills and what you are looking for. Write naturally and include the keywords for your field.

5. Experience written as achievements

Bring your experience over from your CV and phrase it as measurable achievements, as explained in the ATS CV guide. Dates and titles must match between your CV and your profile.

6. Skills

Add the skills requested in ads for your field, and pin your top three. Ask colleagues or trainers to endorse them.

7. Licenses and certifications

Add accredited courses under Licenses & Certifications with the issuing organisation and date. This matters especially if your work experience is limited.

8. Switch on Open to Work

From your profile choose Open to work and set the titles, cities and work type. You can make it visible to recruiters only if you are currently employed.

9. Be active

  • Follow your target companies and switch on their job alerts.
  • Connect professionally with employees and recruiters in your field, with a short personalised message.
  • Comment helpfully on posts in your field; showing up regularly makes you familiar.
