How to Get a Customer Service Job in Dubai With No Experience

Customer service is one of the fields most open to beginners in the UAE. Banks, telecoms, airlines, retail, real estate and call centres constantly need people who communicate well with customers, and many of them provide in-house training for new hires.

But “no experience” doesn't mean “no preparation”. A candidate who understands the basics of the field and knows how to present themselves clearly stands out. Here is a practical six-step plan.

Step 1: understand what employers look for

For entry-level customer service roles, employers usually focus on:

  • Communication skills: clear speech and good listening.
  • Languages: Arabic and English are a very strong advantage in the UAE market.
  • Patience and calm: the ability to handle angry customers.
  • Computer basics: fast typing and using systems.
  • Reliability and flexibility: especially with shift work.

Notice that most of these skills don't require previous work experience; they require you to prove them on your CV and in the interview.

Step 2: turn past experiences into presentable experience

You may not have worked in customer service, but you have most likely used its skills. Think about:

  • Work in a shop, restaurant or sales, even part-time.
  • Volunteering or organising events.
  • University activities where you dealt with people or led a team.
  • Helping in a family business or freelance work.

Write these experiences on your CV in the language of the required skills: “Dealt with customers daily”, “Resolved enquiries and requests”, “Worked in a team at peak times”.

Step 3: get training and a certificate in the field

When you have no experience, a training course becomes your proof of commitment and readiness. Look for training that is:

  • Practical, including call simulations and complaint handling, not just theory.
  • Awarding an accredited certificate you can add to your CV and LinkedIn profile.
  • Including CV and interview preparation, because those are your real gateway to the job.

Step 4: prepare a CV that passes automated screening

Most large companies use ATS systems to sort applications. A CV without the right keywords can be filtered out before anyone sees it. Include phrases such as Customer Service, Customer Support, Call Center, Complaint Handling, Communication Skills and Bilingual (Arabic/English), as long as they apply to you.

Step 5: search in the right places

  • Job sites: LinkedIn, Indeed, Bayt, GulfTalent, Naukrigulf.
  • Company websites directly: the “Careers” pages of banks, telecoms and airlines.
  • Recruitment and outsourcing companies: many call centre jobs go through them.
  • Professional communities: groups that share jobs and review CVs, such as the zTraining Club customer service community.
Tip: apply regularly and with focus. Ten considered applications, each tailored to the job, beat a hundred random ones with the same CV.

Step 6: prepare for the interview like a practical test

In customer service interviews, how you speak is assessed as much as what you say. Prepare answers to the common questions, especially “How do you handle an angry customer?”, and practise out loud.

Common beginner mistakes

  • Applying to every job without reading the requirements.
  • Writing “no experience” instead of highlighting transferable skills.
  • Neglecting English; even an intermediate level plus training makes a big difference.
  • Not following up after applying or after the interview.
